Birthprint calculates the Moon’s sidereal position for the exact birth moment. Its place in one of 27 nakshatras provides the starting point for the Vimshottari sequence.
The nakshatra establishes the birth balance.
Each nakshatra has a period ruler. The Moon’s position within that nakshatra determines how much of its first Mahadasha had already elapsed at birth.
The Mahadasha is the larger chapter.
Mahadashas continue in a fixed 120-year sequence. The current Mahadasha describes the longer period containing the present moment.
The Antardasha is the chapter within it.
Every Mahadasha contains nine Antardashas in the same planetary order. The active Antardasha identifies the more immediate period nested inside the larger one.

The periods do not restart.
Vimshottari periods continue from the birth chart. They do not reset on January 1, on a birthday, or when a new report is created. The calculator finds where today falls in that ongoing sequence.

Birthplace resolves the historical local time zone. Exact birth time locates the Moon within its nakshatra, which determines how much of the first period remained and dates every period after it.

What are Mahadasha and Antardasha?
A Mahadasha is a longer period in the Vimshottari sequence. An Antardasha is a shorter period nested inside it. This calculator identifies the pair active now and shows their actual date boundaries.
Does this predict what will happen?
No. It calculates the timing structure only. A period can provide context for reflection, but it does not guarantee that a particular event will occur.
Why are exact birth time and birthplace required?
The Moon moves continuously, and its exact position determines the birth-period balance used to date the sequence. Birthplace resolves the historical local time zone so the birth moment is calculated correctly.
What if I do not know my birth time?
Birthprint does not guess an exact Vimshottari timeline without a birth time. The free calculator therefore requires one so every date it presents has the same level of precision.
Is this an AI calculation?
The visible calculation is deterministic and does not use AI. It uses the sidereal Moon, a pinned Lahiri ayanamsha calculation, and the Vimshottari period sequence.
How is this different from a full Birthprint?
